Here are some of the knitting projects we are working on outside of ministry - For more details on any of these projects just email knititforward@yahoo.com and mention the project # Project 1 Swirly
scarf is what I call this one. Starts out with 100 stitches
and increases every few rows until there are about 1200 stitches and it
basically twists itself because of the amount of stitches. I
absolutely love this project and it goes pretty quickly. I use a
really fine, soft type yarn (lion brand Amazing yarn) on sale of course!
I liked the yarn so much I bought more just a week ago in even more
colors.
Project 3,
booties This last one were supposed to be baby booties, but
they were a very fine yarn, and they ended up being quite small. So, I tried them on my SASHA doll and they fit perfectly.
Project 4,
purse A bulky yarn and simply knit one purl one into a long
rectangle and sewn together. The handle is 3 stitches knitted into
a tube (knitting without actually turning the needle, just bringing the
yarn to the front. I have it partially lined with fabric and need
to finish it up. Can't decide if I want to keep it or give it as a gift, it is really cute. Sewed a silk flower and fringe on front to make it a little retro looking.
Project 5,
cowl collection....I cant stop making these. Got the idea from
my son's girlfriend who is a bigger knitting freak than I am and she is
good! She gave me one for Christmas and I could NOT stop wearing
it. Knit one purl one into a long rectangle with a button hole
about 4 rows up. Then I have made buttons by hand with material
and button covers. My latest idea: making polymer clay
buttons! My original knitting project aside from hats was with these scarves that I made a couple of years ago. I combined 3 types of yarn: one regular no nonsense red heart yarn, solid color, one sort of twisted soft boucle yarn and then either an eyelash or Fun Fur yarn or another sparkly yarn. They are all knit stitches, just a long rectangle with fringe. But, I used really large needles and the combo yarns make it super soft and thick and warm. I have heard nothing but how much people like them.
